Korpus School of Art History
LA Beginnings: 2011-2018 + Seattle Rebeginnings: Summer 2023:
Korpus started off as Korpus School of Art in Downtown LA in 2011. After a successful 7 years of teaching mainly College Portfolio Prep students, Founder / Owner + Instructor Rebecca Kimmel closed Korpus in 2018 to pursue her own training in the classical atelier tradition, first in Italy, and then in the US.
In Summer 2023 the renamed Korpus Studio of Art will be opening in a new location in Seattle, Washington!
Etymology of Korpus | What does Korpus mean?
Korpus is a portmanteau of the initial of our founder’s last name K(immel) with Corpus (Latin for body or group). Our school has as its primary focus the human figure; thus Korpus refers to a collective body of students studying figurative art.
